Recently I tried out this new super food packed popcorn by Sneaky’s. It’s called Savory Spirulina Popcorn. Now if you don’t know what Spirulina is, don’t panic because I had NO idea what it was either. I did some looking into it so that I could bring you some information that might be useful.
Before I get into what exactly spirulina actually is I want you to ask yourselves this. Have you ever found yourself snacking yourself all the way through the day until you can finally make a decent meal? Are you a busy mom who works a couple of jobs, or are you that parent who takes the kids everywhere they need to go after school? Whatever your reason is for snacking so much, have you stopped to think what’s really in those snacks of nutritional benefits?
Well at Sneaky’s they went through the same thing, always wondering what was in their families foods. They also knew that their families/children wouldn’t knowingly eat something that was “good” for them, so they had to be SNEAKY! That’s where Sneaky’s Savory Spirulina Popcorn comes in. They added Spirulina to the simple yet very much-loved snack, popcorn!
Okay so what is spirulina- it’s a one of the oldest life forms on Earth. The green colored microalgae is partly responsible for producing the oxygen in the planet’s. Spirulina is the world’s first superfood, and one of the most nutrient-rich foods on Earth. It’s packed with 55-70% more protein then your average meat like chicken and beef.
While this snack is super healthy for you I didn’t find it all that delicious. Here’s the thing I didn’t love it, but I also didn’t hate it. I think it’s one of those things you have to be acquired to, or least try it a few times before really liking it. My niece on the other hand LOVED it, and my son, well I could barely get him to try it. It’s sometime I can’t even begin to describe how it tasted. The only way I can try to explain it is a bit bitter, yet at times really salty.
Sneaky’s Popcorn is manufactured in Olympia Washington and is distributed locally around that area. It has branched out a little, but in regards to being sold in grocery retailers like Wegmans, Walmart or Target I haven’t been able to find that. You can however purchase this healthy snack on their website.
