Caillou Helps Out

My 6 year old son “grew up” watching Caillou. I think he loved watching Caillou learn all sorts of real life things. As a child, he could relate to a lot if not most of the situations on the cartoon. Caillou Helps Out is a 7 episode DVD that brings to light the concept of working together, and being aware of others feelings. The Episode List is as follows-

* Caillou Makes A Meal– in this episode he learns that making food (pizza) at home with your family is just as good if not better than eating out. We can relate to this episode a lot, we like to cook dinner together as a family.

*Follow Me- here we learn to listen to our classmates/friends to figure out who they are and what they like to do. What we like, might not be what everyone else likes either. Taking turns sharing in what one likes is the best way to be a friend!

* Emma’s Extra Snack

*High Flyers

*The Untidy Classroom

*Captain Caillou

*Smooth Sailing

After each episode I had the opportunity to speak with my son and see what he took away from each episode. It’s one thing to watch the episode, but it’s another to understand what the message is really saying. I am happy that here are cartoons out there that choose to educate our children in a fun and creative way.
