Robert Heiberger and Judy Amabile founded Product Architects, Inc. (Polar Bottle®) in 1994 from a garage in Boulder, Colorado. The duo had a passion for cycling and adventure. They also wanted to create a brand and product that allowed them to carry and keep their water cool while out on their trips. Robert put his experience in working with heat loss in the field of medical technology design to work. In doing so he brought to market an insulated water bottle that any cyclist and sports player could be proud of.
While I am not a cyclist or an avid sports player I do find myself wanting and needing a good water bottle. I like to carry my water with me everywhere I go, and its an added bonus to know that the contents will stay colder longer than usual. I contacted the Polar Bottle company because I loved the passion and drive behind their creation of their product. I chose two different designs and sizes to review so you could get a better sense of what they have to offer.
When I opened the box and saw the bottles I was a little shocked as I was expecting them to be more colorful and bright. When browsing through the different designs and prints on the site I chose these ones because I felt their colors popped and stood out. Below you’ll see the picture of the Flower Candy Water Bottle (Ergo $14.99) that I chose for myself.
I love the design overall I just wished that it was as colorful as the pictured showed. Let’s get real though, the color isn’t the most important part of any water bottle and it’s certainly not for this particular bottle. This water bottle has a Half Twist design lid. Like I mentioned, I like to take my water bottles with me when I leave the house and I tend to drink water while in the car driving. The half twist design isn’t the easiest to use while driving. I do like the droplet indicator on the outside of the bottle to allow you to know when you’ve twisted it far enough. The real test for me though was how well the Polar Bottle kept my water cold for. I was over the moon impressed with it. I filled my water bottle up before leaving the house with really cold water from the fridge. I then went and ran errands all day while leaving my water bottle in the car on a 75 degree day. Each time I took a drink from it and it was just as cold as it was when I first poured it from my fridge. Nothing bums me out more than knowing you have a drink in the car, but when you get to it it’s either watered down, or warm and no good.
My son just loves his limited Edition S’Cool Sea 20oz Water Bottle (sports $13.99). He likes to be just like his mom when it comes to taking a drink everywhere and I can’t blame him. Specially with the warmer months coming upon us and with all the outdoor activities we do. Benjamin likes the plastic handle on the bottle that allows him to carry it with that. He was also happy that his didn’t have the twist lid as he says my lid is “too much work”. I would have usually thought a 20oz water bottle was simply to large for my 6-year-old as the beverage would get warm and wasted before it was gone. With these Polar Bottles I don’t have to worry about that anymore. Ben has also recently learned to ride his bike without his training wheels and I see him spending a lot of time on his bike this summer. The S’cool Sea Water Bottle is designed to fit into most bike bottle holders. Another great fact to mention is that all Polar Bottle products are, and always have been, BPA-free and Phthalate-free.
Over all, this water bottle is a game changer for me when I compare my Polar Bottle against my other bottles. The prices are rather affordable when held in comparison to a water bottle say at Wal-Mart. The bottles at a chain store don’t always promise that your drink will stay cold. I recommend Polar Bottle to anyone in the market for a high quality, insulated water bottle at an affordable price!
As always this was provided to me for free for my 100% honest opinion and feedback. I was not given any other compensation other than the product.
